In late 2013, the Regional Transportation Authority (RTA), the service boards, and the TMA conducted research to determine the feasibility for additional shuttle bug routes in other markets outside of the TMAs traditional service area of Southern Lake County and Northern Cook County.   The research found that there were markets in Northwest Cook and DuPage Counties for these types of routes.  Based on this study, the TMA is working with the RTA and service boards to implement a regional pilot program to start up to four shuttle routes.

On April 6, Pace Shuttle Bug Route 465 will begin operating from the Belmont Metra Station in Downers Grove, IL to the Esplanade office complex.   The Esplanade is managed by Hamilton Partners, and includes tenants such as Hillshire Farms and Newell Rubbermaid.    It will be the first in a series of new regional routes serving these markets using the Shuttle Bug  public- private funding scenario.    The RTA and Hamilton Partners will contribute to fund the project.
